Digital Dentistry Q&A

What is digital dentistry?

Digital dentistry uses advanced, computer-based technologies to diagnose, treat, and prevent oral health problems. The majority of these techniques are minimally invasive and require no downtime. What’s more, they present very few side effects and are safe for all people, including those living with underlying medical conditions.

What are the types of digital dentistry?

At Pierce Robotics, Dr. Pierce uses a variety of digital tools, including:

Intraoral cameras

Intraoral cameras use high-tech lenses to provide detailed, real-time images of your teeth and gums. During an oral exam, Dr. Pierce inserts the intraoral camera into your mouth. It provides a live feed of your teeth, gums, tongue, and cheeks that Dr.  Pierce displays on a monitor inside the exam room.

Intraoral scanners

Intraoral scanners are digital tools that replace the messy materials traditionally used to take dental impressions.

During an intraoral scan, Dr. Pierce takes a handheld wand-like device and gently runs it over the surface of your teeth and gums. The device transfers the impressions to a computer program that Dr. Pierce uses to design a crown, bridge, or another custom dental appliance.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays use digital sensors and low amounts of radiation to capture detailed photographs of your tooth roots and jaw. Dr. Pierce uses X-rays to detect potentially serious oral health problems invisible to the naked eye. They can also help guide certain procedures, like oral surgery or the placement of dental implants.

Yomi® Robotic Guided Implant Surgery by Neocis®

Yomi Robotic Guided Implant Surgery by Neocis combines digital scanning and 3D-guided implant technology to improve dental implant treatment outcomes. The machine allows Dr. Pierce to place implants with precision, minimizing the risk of potential complications like implant failure.

Mavrik TheraSmile® Whitening

Mavrik TheraSmile Whitening is the only automated teeth whitening system on the market. The machine’s unique design, custom mouthpieces, and proprietary whitening gel provide stunning results that last for four to six* months and sometimes even longer.
