Dental implants are titanium posts placed beneath your gum tissue. They fuse with your jaw, providing a supportive foundation for dental restorations like bridges, overdentures, or crowns.
Dental implants don’t rely on adhesives or your existing teeth for support. With routine dental exams and good oral hygiene, they often last a lifetime.
Dental implants provide many advantages, including:
Dental implants can also improve your oral health. By replacing missing teeth, you lower the risk of more serious complications like gum recession and bone loss.
At Pierce Robotics, getting dental implants involves a series of three appointments:
During your first appointment, Dr. Pierce conducts an oral exam and takes a series of oral X-rays. Then, he uses the Yomi® robotic-guided implant system by Neocis to take digital impressions of your mouth. Dr. Pierce uploads the impressions to a software program and maps out the placement of each implant.
After finalizing a plan, he administers a local anesthetic and places Nobel Biocare™ implants beneath your gums. The robotic-assisted treatment plan allows for precision and accuracy. Following the procedure, Dr. Pierce provides you with care instructions and, if necessary, a prescription for pain medication.
When the Nobel Biocare implants finish integrating with your jaw, you return to Pierce Robotics. Dr. Pierce takes digital impressions of your mouth with an intraoral scanner and sends them to a dental laboratory that creates your crowns, bridge, or overdentures.
When Dr. Pierce receives your completed restorations, you return to the office. He lines up the restorations and attaches them to your implants, restoring your smile as well as your ability to bite and chew.
To keep your dental implants in working order, it’s important to practice good oral hygiene. Dr. Pierce recommends brushing and flossing daily and visiting the office at least two times a year for an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning.
To prevent fractures, chips, or other damage, wear a mouthguard if you play contact sports like lacrosse or football. In addition, avoid bad habits like chewing on ice cubes or opening objects with your teeth.
